DE BANK, HUTT, BUGG

The church is dedicated to St Mary the Virgin

 

 

Below right can be seen the rounded Norman arches, dating from the 12th century.  Also in this photo, the spiral staircase leading to the ringing chamber dates from the 17th century.

The tower was built in the 13th century and increased by one storey in the 15th.

Below left, the old altar is still at the east end, but a new one has been added at the west end for greater flexibility.

 

   

 

                                                     

 

                                         

 

DE BANK

 

 

James DE BANK was born circa 1774-76 in Finstock or Ramsden, baptism record not found to date.  Believed to be one of several children of William DEBANK and Ann HOPCRAFT.

 

James DE BANK married Mary HUTT [see below] on 10 October 1797

 

Their children were

Mary DE BANK baptised 20 December 1801

Emanuel DE BANK baptised 16 August 1807 at Coln St Aldwyn's, GLS

  HUTT

 

William HUTT, a widower, married Mary FRENCH at Northleigh

on 5 November 1764  

The Banns record at Charlbury states Mary was of Willcott [Walcot, nr Charlbury?]

 

William may have been quite newly widowed when he remarried-there is a burial for 

Mary HUTT, wife of William of Finstock at Charlbury on 6 June 1764

 

William was buried 21 January 1803 at Charlbury

Mary was buried there 29 February 1804

Their children were

John HUTT baptised 11 August 1765

Elizabeth HUTT baptised 28 February 1768 buried 4 May 1770

Ann HUTT baptised 20 May 1770 buried 15 May 1771

Mary HUTT baptised 21 March 1773

William HUTT baptised 27 August 1775

Sarah HUTT baptised 24 August 1777 buried 12 August 1778

BUGG

 

Abigal BUGG was baptised 16 December 1700 at Charlbury, daughter of William

For her marriage and family go to Enstone, OXF-BURBOROUGH

 

A likely marriage for her parents is that of

William BUGG to Ann FIDLER at Oxford St. Thomas, bride and groom both of Charlbury

Elizabeth BUGG baptised 16 April 1694

Unnamed BUGG baptised 7 March 1696/7

 

William is buried 2 February 1701/2

A possible baptism for him is 2 January 1642/3 son of John

A likely burial for Ann, widow, is 26 December 1745
