John was convicted of Larceny at the Oxfordshire Assizes on 19 Oct 1835 and sentenced to 6 months gaol. On 24 Oct 1836 the charge was Larceny (stealing an umbrella), having been before convicted of a Felony and the sentence was 7 years Transportation. He was sent to the York Hulk (at Woolwich?). However, so far I have been unable to trace a record of the Transportation.

The 1861 and 1871 censuses show Jason living in Westminster, MDX with wife Rachel, born about 1816 in Cookham Dean, BRK. Unable to locate any marriage record. Nor can I locate a death record for a Rachel Debank prior to Jason's marriage to Harriet.

In 1841, he is living in the household of Edward and Elizabeth WHITEHEAD with siblings James, Sarah and Martha. Unable to trace a Thomas DEBANK in 1851, but there is a Thomas WHITEHEAD of the right age living with the now widowed Elizabeth in Hatherop. Perhaps he was unofficially adopted?

In 1871 William is now a Stoker at the Paper Mill, living with Martha and their 6 children, still in Quenington. In 1881 William is still a Stoker, but they have moved to Wooburn, BCK. In 1891 they have moved to Swanscombe, KEN William is a Bristol Stoker (Stationary)In 1901 they are still in Swanscombe, William is a Stationary Engine Driver.

In 1861 she is living with her parents in Honington, WOR working as a Schoolmistress. 1871 still in Honington as a Schoolmistress, but now just living with sister Julia a Dressmaker. 1881 living at Magna Lodge, Kingston on Thames, SRY working as a Ladies Maid. No trace in 1891.
73. George DEBANK was born about 1840 in Banbury, OXF. From his brother's birth cert parents are William DEBANK and Jane KNIGHT. Working on the theory that the parents never officially married, I believe he was registered as George KNIGHT born 1 May 1840. The parents are listed as William and Jane KNIGHT formerly SMITH. Looking at the family in the 1841 census, alongside William and George BANKS (sic) are William SMITH aged 10 and John SMITH aged 5- Jane's children from an earlier relationship?
He was buried on 16 Mar 1877 in St Thomas, Oxford, OXF.2 He died 17 Feb 1877 in Oxford, OXF. The Coroner's Inquest determined that he drowned whilst of unsound mind, aged 37. His wife said that he had suffered a blow to the head from a skittle ball some time "since" and had been in low spirits and delusional recently. In the early hours of the morning, having already left the house and returned a couple of times, George and Mary went to his brother William's house, but on hearing William, George ran off and threw himself off the bridge over Wareham stream near Morrell's brewery. The body was later discovered by a man punting.
