The name Enstone is of Saxon origin, and a church was probably founded on this site before 830, although the present church was rebuilt from the 12^th century onwards with restoration work in 1856.

He was buried there on 7 January 1834 from Heythrop, OXF, aged 80

Hester/Esther was born circa 1765

She was buried 3 June 1834 aged 68 from Heythrop

There is a Monumental Inscription which reads “ In memory of William Claridge who died Jan 2^nd 1834 aged 80 years also of Esther his wife who died May 31^st 1834 aged LXIX”
