1st GENERATION
1. Richard LAMPSHIRE was born about 1767 in St. Allen, CON.
Richard married Constance OSBOURN on 15 Feb 1794 at Kenwyn, CON. Constance was buried on 30 Jul 1831 aged 66 at Kenwyn, CON. They had the following children:-

2nd GENERATION
2. 1. Michael LAMPSHIRE was baptised 13 Jul 1794 in Kenwyn, CON. He married Nancy/Ann Unknown who was born in Wendron, CON circa 1786. This was possibly Ann RALPH on 2 Aug 1818 at Truro St. Mary's, CON. Michael was a Shoemaker who had died by 1861. Their children were:-

2.2. William LAMPSHIRE was baptised 15 Nov 1795 in Kenwyn, CON. He married Elizabeth COMMINS on 18 Nov 1816 at Kenwyn, CON. Elizabeth was baptised 26 Nov 1793 at Roche, CON. In 1841 they lived at New Croft West, Kenwyn but by 1851 had moved to Tregavethan, Kenwyn and were still there in 1861.
Possible death reference for William DEC 1870 aged 76 Truro 5c 125. Elizabeth was still alive in 1871. Their children were:-

2.3. Nicholas LAMPSHIRE was baptised 16 Apr 1797 at Kenwyn, CON. In 1841 he is a Seaman living at Mill Terrace, St. Clement, Truro, CON with his wife Mary UNKNOWN. In 1851 Mary is on her own and said to be born about 1810 in "Sussex Chelmsford". [Chelmsford is actually in Essex]. In 1861 Nicholas is a Mariner at Mill Place, St Clement, Truro, CON with his wife Mary Ann. A possible death reference for Nicholas is MAR 1868 aged 71 Truro 5c 113. No known children.
2.4. Mary LAMPSHIRE was baptised 2 Dec 1798 at Kenwyn, CON.

3rd GENERATION
3.1. Jane LAMPSHIRE was baptised 26 May 1822 at Kenwyn, CON. She married William MAY reference SEP 1855 Helston 5c 333.
3.2. Elizabeth LAMPSHIRE was baptised 25 Dec 1827 at Kenwyn, CON.
3.3. Henry LAMPSHIRE was baptised 6 Jul 1817 at Kenwyn, CON. He married Elizabeth BICE reference DEC 1840 Truro 9 341. Elizabeth was baptised 28 Oct 1818 at Kenwyn, CON. Henry was a Farm Labourer. In 1891, Henry and Elizabeth are living at Three Burrows, Kenwyn. By 1901, Henry is a widower visiting his daughter Dee in Crantock, CON. Possible death reference for Elizabeth JUN 1900 aged 81 Truro 5c 86.

In 1851 John was a farm labourer, but by 1861 he was a tin and copper miner living in Kea, CON. Between 1861-1871 he married Grace UNKNOWN. A possible death reference for John is JUN 1895 aged 75 Truro 5c 116. John and Mary Ann had the following children:-

By 1881 the family had moved to Perranzabuloe, CON and was still there in 1891. A possible death reference for Louisa is SEP 1895 aged 72 Truro 5c 76. James was still alive in 1901. 3.6. Mary Ann LAMPSHIRE was born about 1827 in Kenwyn, CON. In 1851 she was working as a Servant to a Banker in Trekenning, St. Columb Major, CON. She married John Geach MAY on 3 Jul 1852 at St. Columb Major, CON. After their marriage, John, who was born illegitimate to Ann MAY, dropped that surname and was known as John GEACH. Mary Ann died on 9 Mar 1863 of Gastric Fever, aged 35, at Trebudannon, St. Columb Major. Their children were:-

3.7. Richard LAMPSHIRE was born about 1831 in Kenwyn, CON. In 1851 he is still living with his parents in Kenwyn. There is no trace of him in the 1861 census. A possible death reference could be SEP 1853 Truro 5c 109.
3.8. Jane LAMPSHIRE was born about 1833 in Kenwyn, CON. She is living with her parents in 1851 but not in 1861. She could be the Jane who married John BENNETT on 15 Sep 1859 at St George's, Truro, CON reference SEP 1859 Truro 5c 109.
3.9. Ann LAMPSHIRE was born about 1835 in Kenwyn, CON. She married Thomas JENNINGS reference DEC 1855 Truro 5c 291. In 1871 they are living in Kenwyn with Ann's widowed mother Elizabeth LAMPSHIRE nee COMMINS. Ann had just given birth to James at the time of the census, and died not too long after, death reference JUN 1871 aged 36 Truro 5c 119. Thomas found himself a new wife by the next quarter SEP 1871 Truro 5c 291. He went on to have more children with his second wife. The children of Thomas and Ann were:-

4th GENERATION
4.1. William LAMPSHIRE was baptised 14 Sep 1842 at Kenwyn, CON. He was working as an Agricultural Labourer in 1861, living with his parents in Kenwyn. He married Catherine [possibly Catherine EVA MAR 1865 Truro 5c 220]. In 1871 he is a Tin Miner. In 1881 he is absent from home, but Catherine is described as the wife of a tin miner and engine driver, and they are living at St Agnes, CON. In 1891 they have moved to Illogan, CON and William is an engine driver (stationary). He has died by 1901 and Catherine is living in a boarding house in Newquay, CON. Their children were:-

4.2. John LAMPSHIRE was baptised 26 Oct 1845 in Kenwyn, CON. He married Emily POOLEY reference JUN 1878 Truro 5c 207. In 1881 they are living in Penstraze, Kea, CON. In 1891 the family is in St Agnes, CON, although John is not at home. Their children were:-

4.4. Martin Thomas Bice LAMPSHIRE was baptised 24 Mar 1850 at Kenwyn, CON. He appears to have been named after his two uncles Martin and Thomas BICE who were killed in the East Wheal Rose lead mine disaster of 1846. He emigrated to New Zealand on the Cartvale which left London on 25 Jun 1874 and arrived in Wellington on 11 Oct 1874. He is named as a Farm Labourer on the passenger list. His brother Richard [see 4.7. below] erected a memorial in his local cemetery of Mays Hill, Parramatta, Australia recording that Annie LAMPSHIRE [Martin's wife] died 16 Dec 1896 aged 40 and that Martin drowned in New Zealand on 13 Dec 1905 aged 56.
4.6. Dee LAMPSHIRE was born 3 Nov 1853 baptised 8 Jan 1857 at Kenwyn, CON. In 1881 Dee was working as a Domestic Servant in Richmond, SRY. On 2 Jan 1884 at Truro, CON she married Alfred CHEGWIDDEN, a widower who already had a son, Charles. In 1911 their sons Harry and Morley emigrated to join their uncle Richard LAMPSHIRE [see below] in Australia. Frederick and Walter joined them in 1912. Dee and Alfred along with their daughter Elizabeth and her husband Edwin KESTLE decided to join the rest of the family, leaving on board SS Orama 12 Oct 1912 and arriving in Sydney 5 Dec 1912. They built a home in Railway Street, Granville [Sydney suburb] New South Wales. Dee died in Granville on 2 Jul 1936. This information courtesy Dee's grandson Noel CHEGWIDDEN. 8. Mary Elizabeth CHEGWIDDEN born 29 Jan 1887 at Crantock, CON. Married Edwin KESTLE 6 Aug 1910 at Crantock. Died 13 Jan 1970 at Lithgow, New South Wales, Australia.
9. Harry Wilfred CHEGWIDDEN born 27 Sep 1888 at Crantock, CON. Married Kathleen Teresa McLEOD 22 Apr 1916 at Granville, NSW, Australia. Died 21 Aug 1959 at Granville.
10. Morley CHEGWIDDEN born 15 Jun 1890at Crantock, CON. Married Edith Maude TAMBLYN 28 Sep 1912 at Parramatta, NSW, Australia. Died 8 Aug 1973 at Sydney, NSW, Australia.
11. Frederick CHEGWIDDEN born 13 Apr 1892 at Crantock, CON. Married Kate Elizabeth HARRIS 22 Apr 1922 at Orange, NSW, Australia. Died 10 Feb 1977 at Eastwood, NSW, Australia.
12. Walter CHEGWIDDEN born 2 Aug 1895 at Crantock, CON. Married Ida Louisa McLEOD 11 Nov 1916 at Granville, NSW, Australia. Died 14 Dec 1965 at Merrylands, NSW, Australia.
4.7. Richard LAMPSHIRE was born 9 Feb 1858 and baptised 25 May 1858 at Kenwyn, CON. He married Mary Jane SANDREY on 27 Aug 1879 reference SEP 1879 St Columb 5c 111. They sailed to Australia on the SS Strathleven on their honeymoon departing Plymouth, DEV 4 Sep 1879, arriving Sydney, Australia 27 Oct 1879. Initially, Richard worked milking cows 200km west of Sydney but by 1884 they had moved to Parramatta, a Sydney suburb where they remained. Richard worked for New South Wales railways. They had six daughters. See their pictures on the Photo Gallery. Richard died 10 Jan 1843 aged 84 and his wife Mary Jane on 18 Jul 1843 aged 85. This information courtesy Max Johnson.
