MASTERS

 

From the Dictionary of Surnames:- Masters: A patronymic form of the English and Scottish nickname Master, which described the man who behaved in a masterful way, or as an occupational name for the Master of a craft.  It is derived from Middle English maister from Latin magister.  The name was borne in early times by people who were freeholders of enough land that they had labourers who helped them work the land.

In 1871 he is a Woodman Labourer

By 1881 he is an Agricultural Labourer living in the church Village of St. Mabyn

He died 22 November 1883
